Technology and language learning (TLL), well, that is one of seven courses I have to deal with in this third semester. My first thought about that course was how to teach language using technology. It seems great for me (for real!) because in my opinion, technology is very helpful and interesting and I like helpful and interesting things.
In the first and second TLL class (9/22-23) with our lecturer, Mr. Teguh, we learnt about what technology is, how teach with technology, Computer Assistant Language Learning (CALL), and the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in teaching and learning activities. Honestly, I think Mr. Teguh taught us very well and make it interesting, so I didn’t feel bored.

It’s been a must for schools in big city to provide technology in language teaching and learning process, but, can they optimally use it? I reflect when I was in Junior and High school, the teacher and students spent some of English course time in language laboratory just to listen to the conversations. I think that was very ineffective because we can do that in the classroom with only tape recorder and speaker.
However, technology is very helpful, especially in teaching and learning process. The thing that we have to think about as ICT-based teachers is how we optimally use it, how we make learning activities more interesting, how we make the students understand about the lesson easier.

it was nice reflection , but you had mentioned that as a teacher we should use technology optimally so what will you do as a teacher too?
ReplyDeletehow if you get the chance to teach in a deep vilage?

to Mei_Mei: It depends on what technology I'll deal with.
ReplyDeleteto Rindy.agustiansyah: I'll use my own technology at least to let the students know what it is, how it works and what the functions.
