2nd TLL Reflection

At the third TLL class, Mr. Teguh conducted a debate about building language laboratory. The pro group agree that building language laboratory is needed to help student to learn English easier and more effective while the contra group believed that is just wasting money. The contra group suggested renovating and improving computer laboratory and plugging it with internet connection. I, a member of contra group, personally agree with them who suggested to make computer laboratory can access the internet. Internet can help us to learn not only language but also anything else.
The pro group said internet may make student cannot focus in learning because there are many interesting thing else such as games, social medias, and even negative contents. That is the most challenging for us, as a teacher, to deal with technology in teaching and learning activity in this era. Frankly, I still do not know how to direct student to use internet in learning appropriately because I think, the only one who can control them is their own self. We can direct them but still, they decide everything for themselves.
At the fourth session, we talked about how social media can help students to learn language. Facebook, Google, Skype, blog and webquest are needed in language learning, especially for distance learners. They also help us with amazing things such as video call, chat room, and interesting audio and visual so that we can learn language easier and funnier.
We, the digital natives, have to deal with the digital era. Keep digitalized but still civilized!
